TwinSheet in real.
Twin Sheet combines vacuum forming and pressure forming (High Pressure) by forming and welding two sheets together in the same process. The method produces a hollow, sealed product without the use of adhesive or other jointing techniques.
The Twin Sheet process gives 3D parts with surfaces according to specification. Typical properties for a Twin Sheet product are strength and rigidity combined with low weight. Twin Sheet products can also be filled inside with foam.
Common applications
Typical areas of use are pallets, containers for medical equipment, different types of cabinet, leisure equipment, ventilation products and many parts for aeroplanes, cars and trains.
1. Vacuum forming tool
The tool is placed in the TwinSheet machine. The sheets are inserted.
2. Heating
The sheets to be formed are heated from above and below to between +170-210°C
3. Vacuum forming
Using the vacuum the plastic material is formed in the forming tools. The edges are welded together in the same process.
4. Cooling
Once the sheet has been moulded it is cooled and is then ready for after-machining.
